Who we are

RN Roberts & Sons Limited is a haulage and trailer hire company registered in England and Wales, company number 06130427, with its registered office at Whittle Close, Engineer Park, Sandycroft, Flintshire, CH5 2QY. We also trade as MLR Trailers for our trailer hire services.

This policy explains what information we collect through our website and what we do with it. We are the data controller for the information described here.

What we collect

When you contact us through the website

Our enquiry and quote forms ask for your name, phone number and email address, along with details of what you need. Depending on the form, this may include collection and delivery locations, dates, the type of load, and the service or trailer you are interested in.

When you submit a form we also record your IP address and browser information. We use this only to identify and block automated spam.

We do not ask for anything we do not need in order to respond to you.

When you browse the website

If you accept analytics cookies, we collect information about how the site is used: which pages are visited, how long people spend on them, roughly which region they are in, and what device and browser they use. We cannot identify you from this.

If you decline analytics cookies, nothing is collected while you browse.

Why we collect it

We use your contact details and enquiry information to respond to you and provide a quote. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: our interest in responding to enquiries about our services, and yours in getting a reply. If the enquiry leads to work, our lawful basis becomes performance of a contract.

We record IP address and browser information on form submission to prevent spam and protect the website. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests in keeping our systems secure.

We use analytics to understand how the website is used so we can improve it. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry information for as long as we need it to respond to your enquiry, and where the enquiry leads to work, for as long as we are required to keep business records for legal and accounting purposes.

Analytics information is retained by Google in line with their own retention settings.

Where it is stored

When you submit a form, your enquiry is stored on our web server and emailed to us. The stored copy sits outside the publicly accessible part of the server and cannot be reached from the internet.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information and we do not share it for marketing.

We use the following third parties:

Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited) processes information about how visitors use our site, but only if you accept analytics cookies. Google may transfer this data outside the UK, and where it does, it relies on approved safeguards. Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.

Google Maps (Google Ireland Limited) provides the map on our contact page. If you accept cookies, the map loads from Google's servers and Google receives your IP address. If you decline, the map does not load.

Our web host stores the website and enquiry records.

Our email provider delivers enquiry emails to us.

We may also share information where the law requires it.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file placed on your device by a website.

Essential

We set one cookie when you use an enquiry form. It protects the form against a type of attack called cross site request forgery, and it expires when you close your browser. It does not track you and cannot identify you. Because it is strictly necessary for the form to work, it does not require your consent.

We also set a cookie to remember your cookie choice, so you are not asked on every page. It lasts six months.

Analytics

If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies to measure how the site is used. These do not identify you personally.

Security

Enquiries submitted through the website are stored outside the publicly accessible part of our web server, so they cannot be reached from the internet. Our website uses an SSL certificate, so information you send us is encrypted in transit.

No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information you give us.

Links to other websites

Our website links to other sites, including Google Maps and WhatsApp. This policy does not cover them and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

Children

Our services are aimed at businesses. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
